Soy Pablo Martínez Garrido y nací en Cuenca en el año 1993, pero resido y trabajo en Bilbao.

Como artista, exploro la relación entre la hiperrealidad producida por los algoritmos y la condición humana. En Internet me convierto en una suerte de media-flâneur que transita los recovecos de un mapa mucho más grande que su territorio, en búsqueda de lugares y momentos de absoluta independencia, de zonas temporalmente autónomas, dentro de un ecosistema ceñido por el control y la vigilancia.

Como investigador, actualmente desarrollo mi proyecto de tesis doctoral en la Universidad del País Vasco, titulado Tecnologías de la vigilancia, la simulación del mundo en la sociedad de control y el artista media-flâneur como explorador, resistencia y alternativa. Participo periódicamente en la revista digital Txt-Lab (Grupo de investigación AKMEKA, Grupo consolidado de Investigación Tipo A del Gobierno Vasco 2019-2021) tanto como redactor como coeditor.

Soy graduado en Bellas Artes por la Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, tengo un Máster en Arte Contemporáneo, Tecnológico y Performativo por la Universidad del País Vasco y actualmente realizo mi doctorado en esta universidad. Por otra parte, soy miembro del colectivo Not a Soho. Participo activamente en la vida cultural de Bilbao, donde he realizado proyectos en eventos como Bilbao Art District, Urban Bat e Iturfest y he disfrutado de residencias en Histeria Kolektiboa y Wikitoki. También he sido miembro de la productora artística y editorial Consonni, donde he formado parte de la organización de eventos como LaPublika para Donostia 2016.

I’m Pablo Martínez Garrido and I was born in Cuenca in 1993, but I live and work in Bilbao.

As an artist, I explore the relationship between the hyperreality produced by algorithms and the human condition. On the Internet, I become a sort of media-flâneur that goes through the recesses of a map much larger than its territory, in search of places and moments of absolute independence, of temporarily autonomous zones, within an ecosystem surrounded by control and surveillance.

As a researcher, I am currently developing my doctoral thesis project at the University of the Basque Country, entitled Technologies of surveillance, the simulation of the world in the control society and the media-flâneur artist as explorer, resistance and alternative. I participate periodically in the digital magazine Txt-Lab (Research Group AKMEKA, UPV-EHU) both as editor and co-editor.

I have a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Castilla-La Mancha, I have a Master’s Degree in Contemporary, Technological and Performative Art from the University of the Basque Country and I am currently doing my doctorate at this university. On the other hand, I am a member of the Not a Soho collective. I actively participate in the cultural life of Bilbao, where I have carried out projects in events such as Bilbao Art District, Urban Bat and Iturfest and I have enjoyed residences in Histeria Kolektiboa and Wikitoki. I have also been a member of the artistic and publishing company Consonni, where I have been part of the organization of events such as LaPublika for Donostia 2016.
